Mischa Gerbrecht, percussion
Described by NY Philharmonic Principal Percussionist Christopher Lamb as having a “natural, deep-seated musical knowledge”, Mischa Gerbrecht is a Canadian percussionist working in Vancouver and studying in New York City. Whether it be through playing, composing, or teaching, Mischa strives to show the world how wonderful music can be and the vast array of emotions it can evoke. Mischa’s performances are known for their energy, commitment, and personality. He has experience in chamber, solo, and large ensemble environments, and was most recently a member of the 2025 National Youth Orchestra of Canada, with which he completed a 3-week chamber music intensive and a 6-week Canadian tour. Mischa has successfully taught percussion both to students in lower-level ensembles at his high school and to groups of children at a music camp. He is currently doing a bachelor degree in classical percussion at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with renowned faculty Christopher Lamb, Duncan Patton, She-e Wu, and Steven White. In his spare time, he can be found hiking, skiing, and playing piano.
