Fergus Kwan, piano

Fergus Kwan is an emerging concert pianist and composer in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia, majoring in Piano Performance and Composition. Fergus is currently studying with Dr. Corey Hamm. He has also studied with Dr. Henri-Paul Sicsic, and participated in masterclasses with many great masters, including Prof. Jon Kimura Parker, Dr. Henry Kramer, and Ilana Vered.

As a performer, Fergus has won awards including the Best Performance of a Work by Chopin, awarded by The Vancouver Chopin Society, Best Performance of Jordan Nobles’ The Architect’s Dream, awarded by the Architecture of Music Competition, and has won the Elevato International Piano Competition, Canadian Music Competition, Pacific Youth International Competition, and Vancouver Westcoast Music Society. He has also been invited to perform at the VSO School of Music as a representative of the Vancouver Chopin Society, Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra Piano Extravaganza, and Vancouver Westcoast Music Society.

As a composer, Fergus is currently studying with Prof. Jennifer Butler. His compositions have been performed at the UBC School of Music World Premiere concert, an event held in collaboration with Dr Corey Hamm, and an art song concert held in collaboration with Prof. Rena Sharon.
